MESSAGE FROM TEAM PRESIDENT STEVE KOROSSY |
Ever since i was a little boy, I loved animals and respected their right to live in this world, just like us. We are simply another animal species in this world. At age 8, i learned the truth of what happens to the animals, and I was horrified, angry, and sad... all at the same time. How could humans choose to contribute to such an injustice? |
Upon learning the truth, I immediately changed my behavior and stopped eating animals. While more common today, this was always ridiculed and mocked by nearly everyone around me, including my own extended family. Why would someone willingly choose a path so vastly different from 98% of expected social behavior? I knew it would be my life's mission and purpose to be the voice for the billions of animal victims. I can't change the world, but I will do my part to make this world a more peaceful place for future generations. |
As humans evolve and become more civilized, typically they become less violent and more accepting of those who look, sound, and think differently. Our fellow earthlings, including all the animals, have the same right to live in peace. Just as previous generations had racism, sexism, etc., speciesism is the social injustice issue of this time period. For any injustice to end, some people must challenge the status quo in the interest that one day, the injustice will finally end. In the beginning, this is typically fiercely rejected, until there is an evolution and fundamental shift in perspective. |
We as children were born with care and compassion for our animal friends. Dogs, cats, dolphins, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, fish, etc., the only difference is your perception. In this modern civilized society, the only reason children ever begin eating animals is in the name of culture, religion, tradition, and advertising. Would we not be be horrified if a toddler jumped on a dog and started tearing into the animal with their teeth? The care and compassion you teach your children about dogs and cats, is the same care and compassion all animals deserve. |
To further the cause of compassion toward others, we only offer 100% plant-based foods at Dunedin Highlanders home games. This is not a matter of forcing anyone to eat something they don't want, it's about demonstrating that plant-based food is much more than just salads. Plant-based food has also been scientifically proven to be the healthier choice. I realize some of you will have opposition to there only being plant-based food available, and I accept the challenge to break through your perceptions by showing you the other side. Our vendors have amazing options. If you are unwilling to considering something new, you are welcome to limit your game day experience to just enjoying an exciting football game. |
A quote which is at my core, "Do onto others, as you would have them do onto you." It's long overdue that we end the injustices of the past, for a more peaceful tomorrow. BE THE CHANGE |
